Editorial policy

Editorial and technical standards

How we verify, document, cross-reference, and maintain the accuracy of every light meaning on this site.

Last updated: 2026-10-31

Scope of coverage

This site covers front-panel LED behaviour for consumer broadband gateways, standalone modems, optical network terminals, and range extenders. Coverage is limited by available documentary evidence, not by editorial preference.

Source requirements

Every LED meaning is linked to a primary documentary source: a manufacturer or provider manual, an official support article, or an official LED table. Community posts and unverified blogs are not used as diagnostic evidence.

Conflicting sources

When two official documents disagree, the affected instruction is withheld and flagged until the conflict is resolved. The AT&T BGW320 reset hold duration is one such case.

Revision tracking

Each guide shows its check date. Sources are revisited on a rolling cycle, and material changes are noted in the guide.

Advertising and independence

Advertising, when present, sits below the short answer and never inside diagnostic steps. No technician referral arrangement exists. Affiliate links, if added, are disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections

Report errors through the contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected and noted.
